Competing at USAW Freestyle and Greco-Roman

Nationals for Cadets/Juniors

If you place top 3 at any USAW Junior Regional event then you have qualified to go with Team Washington to Fargo, ND. Placing top 3 at a regional event qualifies you for Nationals at any weight and does not count towards the state’s allocation of 51 Cadets and 45 Juniors. Three wrestlers from each weight from the Greco-Roman and Freestyle state championships are what make up the 51 Cadets and 45 Juniors. If the top 3 at state are already qualified through a regional such as at Battle Ground or the upcoming Las Vegas tournament then the next 3 at the event that want to go have first shot at signing up. This would be the 4th, 5th and 6th placer at state. If 4th and 5th didn’t signup after state to go to Fargo then the next 2 placers (7th and 8th) would have the opportunity to go. If only two signed up at one weight then that would free up an additional spot at another weight to be determined by the WSWA. You may also be able to petition for a position on the team if you are unable to compete at the state meet for medical reasons or some other reasons beyond your control. You would need to talk to the Deputy Director about that for details.

The information will be sent to wrestles that qualified for Fargo at a Junior Regional and will also be handed out to wrestlers that qualify at the state meet. The letter will have the details on dates and costs for the trips. Jim Burchett is the Deputy Director and is in charge of making arrangements for the trip.
