Aizayah 'Maka' Yacapin

Curtis High School

Aizayah Yacapin is a Freshman from Curtis High School in Washington State, also known as 'Maka'; short for his Hawaiian name Makahiapo (meaning: the First Born).  Maka started wrestling when he was 5 years old in Hawaii, after moving to Washington he started wrestling for Jr. Vikings where coaches Chip Rogers, Bill Wheeler and Andrew Sacks made a huge impact on him and set examples for him to follow.  

Maka loves wrestling however when he isn't on the mat you can find him playing baseball and practicing judo where he is trained by mentors Jason Harai and Byron Reddit from Ippon Judo.  

As a Freshman at Curtis, Maka has 24-1 record and currently is ranked #1 in the State. 

Accomplishments this season:

  • 1st Las Vegas Holiday Classic
  • 1st Don Herron Invite
  • 1st Gut Check 

Maka maintains a 3.9 GPA as a freshman and his favorite subject is Chemistry.  Maka has big plans following High School, he wants to continue his wrestling journey into college where he also plans to attend Medical School.  Maka has a younger brother and sister, both of which are following big brother and now train at Jr Viking Wrestling and he would like to thank his family, friends, coaches, teammates and Jr. Vikings for the continuous support both on and off the mat.
