Viktorya Torres is currently a freshman at Granger High School.  This student athlete proudly earned a 4.0 GPA in her first semester.

She is 1 of 3 freshman to win a WIAA state title this past weekend and the only female to accomplish the feat by winning the 110 lb girls division this year.  She also had the honor to be part of a WIAA state championship team as Granger High School won the 1A division team title this season coached by Richard Sanchez, Abel Nava and Eric Lopez.

Quick thank you to her HS teammate and training partner, senior Mayu Molina for pushing her all season.

Some of her high school accomplishments include:

• Season record - 40 wins and 1 loss with 28 pins, 2 tech falls, 4 major decisions.

• WIAA High School 110 lbs State Champion

• South Eastern WA Sub-regional Champion

• Othello Huskies Girls Invite Champion

• Kelso Girls Invite Champion

• Hanford Girls Winter Cup Champion

• Columbia-Burbank Invite Champion

• Hammerhead Girls Invite Champion

Viktorya has been involved in wrestling since she was a toddler. She could be seen at numerous tournaments week in and week out tagging along with her father, Rene Torres, who is head coach for the Victory Wrestling Club out of Central WA.

Viktorya started competing for Victory Wrestling at the age of 7 yrs old. Being a slender female, she struggled wrestling vs the boys but her tenacity never let her give up.  At the age of 10, a back injury sidelined her for 2 seasons but her determination would not keep her off the mat permanently.  Back on the mats for the last 3 1/2 years she has been determined to excel at the highest level.  She has set some pretty high goals for herself and achieved one of them this past weekend.  Other lofty goals she has set are to win a USAW folkstyle (OKC) and freestyle (Fargo) national championship, a world team trials (body bar) championship which would allow her to compete for team USA at the world championships.  Not only does she want to compete at worlds but would love to bring a medal back to the USA and her home state of WA.

Past accomplishments with Victory Wrestling-Central WA and Woman's Team WA:

• 3rd @ USAW Fargo Cadet Freestyle Nationals

• 4th @ USAW Cadet Folkstyle Nationals

• AA @ USAW World Team Trails

• 2 time Reno Worlds Champion

• 2 time Las Vegas Freakshow Champion

• 3 time Denver Monster Match Champion

• Rocky Mountain Nationals Champion

• 1st Female Rocky Mountain Nationals Triple Crown Award Winner

Viktorya would like to thank all of her family and friends who support her on this journey to be a successful student athlete.

She would also like to thank her Victory coaches, Rene Torres, Nate Huizar, and Abel Nava that have been there since day 1.  Past Victory alumni who come in and pay it forward to her, uncle Steven Sanchez, Chris Castillo, Richy Zuniga Huizar, Jesse Torres, Skylor Davis and many more.

Special shout out to her Victory practice partners since day 1, Abel Nava Jr, Andrew Macias, Jaden Sanchez, Alex Fernandez, Ramiro Jimenez and many, many more to name.

Victory for life!
