With only a little over 2 months until the High School wrestling season starts up...  This is for all the High School wrestling junkies out there, we wanted to give you something to chew on during these long 2 months.  We will be previewing high school teams around the state for the upcoming 2016-2017 season.  This will give you an in-depth look into which teams will be the favorites going into next season. Which teams have the strongest classes coming in and which teams may surprise. This is our best prediction for weights and they may be off a bit.  If we are missing kids feel free to let us know in the comments below!

We start off with one of the best teams in the state this year... Tahoma!

Returning State Participants: 11

Returning State Placers: 7

  • Ryden Fu (2015: 5th; 2016: 6th)
  • Dagen Kramer 4th
  • Justin Sipilia (2014: 6th; 2015: 3rd; 2016: 6th)
  • Dylan Weiding 7th (2014)
  • Nick Whitehead (2014: 5th; 2015: 5th; 2016: 2nd)
  • Austin Michalski 3rd
  • Kione Gill (2015: 4th; 2016: 2nd)

Impact Freshmen:  With Tahoma’s depth this year it will be tough to crack the starting lineup as a Freshmen, however, this is the largest wrestling Freshmen class in over a decade.  Look for this class to make some big waves in coming years.

Possible Line-up

106: TBD

113: Austin Michalski

120: Joseph Novak – Cameron Hanson

126: Nick Whitehead

132: Payton Masterson

138: Ryden Fu - Justin Sipilia

145: Justin Sipilia – Daylon Weiding

152: Reid Carlton – Max Reppen

160: Jake Bir

170: Steven Rieve

182: Gage Dress-Moran

195: Kione Gill

220: Dagen Kramer

285: Nic Carbone

This lineup is far from set and with the depth that Tahoma has you will see a few of these weights shifting from week to week.  Big Boys typically can score big points in tournaments and duals and Tahoma will be dominant in the upper weights with Dagen Kramer and Nic Carbone but wait Tahoma will also have returning 3A State Finalist Kione Gill now wrestling for Coach Feist and the Bears after moving to Maple Valley this summer.  Gill and Kramer are tough as nails and certainly have the skills to score 6 points most every time they walk on the mat in Washington.  This will be a dominant team and I see them as the top team to start the season in all classifications.
