Last year we compiled a list of some of the top incoming freshman, this year is no different.  Wrestlers to watch for that will make an impact on the high school level right away.  This list is difficult because it does put the bigger kids at the disadvantage and the lighter kids at the advantage since your heavier kids will be wrestling mature seniors where your lighter kids will be facing more underclassman.

Last year's top 10 incoming freshman produced so great results on the high school level.  Of the 10 wrestlers listed 4 of them were in the State Finals with one Isaiah Gonzales being crowned State Champion. State Finalist: Isaiah Gonzales (1st), Dustyn Camacho (2nd), Robbie Vaughn (2nd) and Kyler Romero (2nd).   9 out of 10 found the podium with all placing 4th or higher…

#1 Yusief Lillie:  Bonney Lake, HS  Projected Weight Class 106

Yusief will come into High School at the 106 lbs. in 3A and will immediately be one of the favorites to win a State Title.  This past year Yusief claim a Fargo Greco National Title and Fargo Finalist in Freestyle as a first year cadet.  Watch his fast pace in your face style of wrestling shake things up this coming season.

#2 Tryon Kaess:  Mt. Si High, Projected Weight Class 106

Here is another tough nosed lightweight coming into high school. He will be in the 4A and will be contending for a state title right away.  Tryon represented Team Washington this Summer at 84 lbs. Schoolboy National Duals.  Tryon has taken some losses last year but keeps getting better and better and his tough nosed style will help put him in the hunt for a state title.

#3 Steele Starren:  Tahoma HS; Projected Weight Class 126

Steele is fundamentally sound and betrays very few holes in his game.  He has a solid reputation as a freestyle/Greco specialist with an outstanding performance this past year.  Steele was slated to compete at Fargo and Pennsylvania for Washington’s Cadet team however a broken collar bone at National Team Training camp pull him from competition.  Look for Steele to battle in the 4A Division this Season.

#4 Ethan Davis:  Medical Lake HS, Projected Weight Class 132

As a freshman, 132 pounds is a brutal weight class to come into but Ethan has shown huge improvements over the years and is ready to go toe to toe with the upperclassmen.  Ethan has claimed multiple WSWA State Championships, Ethan also represented Team Washington at the Schoolboy National Duals.

#5 Maximus Zamora:  Moses Lake HS, Projected Weight Class 106

Max is up to weight and will be tough to handle with his relentless attacking style.  Great wrestler on the mat and will give other 106 pounders fits. Look for Max to compete for a state title in 4A right out of the gate.

#6 Mark Marum: Mt. Si High School,  Projected Weight Class 106

Mark will be challenged to make the 106 weight class however if he grows look for Mark to compete for a State Title out of the gate.  Mark is a beast with a never quit attitude, his attack style wrestling will cause problems for any 106 pounder this season.

#7 Conor Larsen:  Central Valley High School, Projected Weight Class 170

Conor is a beast, plain and simple! Coming in at 170lbs will present some challenges but I believe he is ready and is strong enough to compete with the upperclassmen. At the Junior High level he wasn't presented with too many challenges so I expect him to step in and compete right away.

#8 Ky Haney:  Mt. Spokane, Projected Weight Class 126

Taking some time off this summer we cannot forget about this talented athlete.  Ky has represented Team Washington in 2016 in Indianapolis at Schoolboy Duals, has claimed a few State Titles over the past years.  Look for Ky Haney to contribute right away for Mt. Spokane.

#9 Matthew Weinert: Cedar Crest High School, Projected Weight 160

Matthew is very tough, works hard and will battle with the best of them. The disadvantage is that he is coming into a weight that he will see a bunch of upperclassmen.  He showed through the spring season he can compete with high school kids and wrestlers throughout the Nation.

#10 Kaden Krouse:  Jenkins Senior High, Projected Weight Class 170

Kaden is one that just keeps getting better and better.  He made huge improvements this spring and thus gets him into the top 10.  He's coming in at a weight in the 1A classification to make an immediate impact as Jenkins Senior High can use him as they try to rebuild around this Freshman.
