When Austin is not competing on the mat he is actively involved in Young Life, Youth Group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spike Ball, Naruto and a self-proclaimed Ping Pong Champion. Austin lives his life to set examples for other athletes to follow, serving as a role model and a friend to everyone.  Austin has an exceptional work ethic with an impressive 3.9 GPA.

As a student of the sport Austin is very coachable, always looking for opportunities to learn.  Coaches include MT (Travis) Ayers, Rene Torres, Andy Cook, Marc Sprague, Jordan Anderson and Cadet World team coach Lucas Steldt and most recently Ruben Navejas Jr.

Austin’s main focus has been Greco-Roman wrestling, you better believe Austin is ready to make the switch back to Folkstyle come November.

Note from Austin’s HS coach (Jordan Anderson):

"One thing that impresses me most about Austin is that he is always striving to get better. He is constantly traveling around the northwest, looking to train with the best competition. He frequently travels four hours on the weekends to train with Coach Marc Sprague and the Cobra Wrestling team. He isn’t content with his prior successes, he is trying to continually improve as wrestler in every way possible.

Where Austin separates himself from the other good wrestlers that I have had is in his ability to lead. Even though he is continually striving to improve himself, he is constantly bringing others with him on that path. He picks teammates up for practice, brings them home from practice, he will call teammates to run at 6:00am and will make kids go to off-season practices so that they can get better.  He recently turned down an opportunity to train with World Champion Logan Steiber, to instead be with his team at a local camp. He didn’t want to let his teammates down by not being there. He leads by example, and is without a question, a leader."
